2 ways to refinish
1. Traditional refinishing
Existing cabinet doors are removed and refinished in our shop. Cabinet boxes are refinished on site. We use 7 coats of precatalized industrial finish. This is an extremely durable finish.
Cost of traditional refinishing is about 70% of cabinet refacing. Cost can be determined by counting the number of drawers and false drawers you have. Divide this number by 3. To this add the number of doors you have. Very large doors over 4.5 square feet count as 2. A valance counts as 1. Multiply this total by $110.00
Example:
9 drawers + 1 false drawer = 10 / 3 = 3.34 + 20 doors + 1 valance =24.34 x $110.00 = $2677.40.
This is a rough estimate for jobs within a 50 mile radius of Des Moines, Iowa.
The finish on refinished cabinets looks better than when the cabinets were new. This is because more coats of the new finish are applied than on the original cabinet, and because the refinishing is being done by an experienced craftsman who cares about the quality of the finished job.
2. New doors stained to match existing cabinets
Existing doors are removed and discarded. A new door style is chosen from Wood Doors. The new doors are stained the color of the cabinet boxes and finished with clear precatalized industrial finish. Choose Stain Color.
Cost: First count the number of drawers and false drawers you have. Divide this total by 3. Add to this the number of doors you have. Large doors over 4.5 square feet count as 2 doors. Multiply this total times $29.00. Then to this total add the actual door and drawer front costs from Wood Doors.
Example: 9 drawers + 1 false drawer = 10 / 3 = 3.34 plus 20 doors = 23.34 x $29.00 = $676.86. $676.86 is your total labor cost to remove existing doors and drawer front and install new wood doors and drawer fronts using new hinges. To this $676.86 labor cost add the actual door and drawer front cost. This cost can be determined in Wood Doors. Do-it-yourselfers will have only the door and drawer front cost. They save the $676.86 labor cost by doing the work themselves.
Doors are stained the Minwax color of your choice, then sprayed with seven coats of industrial finish in our dust free SPRAY BOOTH.
